CSCA Recreational Programs

The CSCA Summer Workshop Frequently Asked Questions

The Cambridge School of Culinary Arts is pleased to announce our new culinary and pastry workshops. Workshops range from four to eight weeks in length depending on subject matter. All workshops are taught by our chef instructors from both of our professional and recreational programs. Each class mirrors our professional programs in subject matter and comprises 1–2 hours of lecture and roughly 5–6 hours of hands-on cooking. Classes are held on two days each week throughout the series.

Is there a payment plan?

There is no payment plan. All money is due, in full, before the first workshop session. Registration will be available online or by calling the School, as with any other recreational program.

Is there financial aid?

There is no financial aid.

What is the cancellation policy?

A full refund less $50.00 processing fee will be granted to students who withdraw at least 2 weeks prior to the start of class. Students withdrawing from classes after the 2 week deadline will receive a School credit.

Will The CSCA offer any week-long Workshops meeting 5 consecutive days?

At this time we don't have any (other than teen) week-long classes scheduled, but that may change depending on demand.

Can I take individual classes within the Workshops instead of the entire series?

For the Basics Workshop and Baking Workshop, since material covered builds sequentially, we will not offer these as individual classes. There is slightly more flexibility in the Italian and Provincial French Workshops—so if there are seats available we will open them up on an individual basis at $300.00 per class. For the Pastry Workshop, each week covers one topic, taught on consecutive days. One can sign up to learn a pastry topic, but must enroll in part 1 and 2. These classes are $500.00 (for 2 classes).

Will I have access to career placement?

No. Only graduates of The CSCA's Professional Programs can access career services; however, the instructors teaching the Workshops are very knowledgeable and have much industry experience. They will be able to offer some career advice and guidance.

Will I receive a certificate?

All who successfully complete the Workshop will receive a Letter of Participation signed by Roberta L. Dowling, CCP (owner and director of The CSCA) or Master Pastry Chef Delphin Gomes (director of the Pastry Programs). All Workshops are non-accredited programs, although they will cover the same material as the accredited programs.

What if I miss a class?

Those missing any topic will be welcomed to attend that class the next time the Workshop convenes. At this time, we have not scheduled any Workshops beyond Summer 2009.

What if I cannot finish the full Workshop?

Those withdrawing before the completion of the Workshop will be given a School credit. The amount will be determined by the date at which the individual stops attending the Workshop.

How do I register for the Workshops?
