Maria Speck

Chef Maria Speck is a freelance journalist and food writer for US and German magazines. In the US, she has contributed to Saveur, Gastronomica, Cooking Pleasures, and the Vegetarian Times. In Germany, her stories have appeared in the country's most prominent magazines and newspapers, including the news and lifestyle publication Stern, which sells one million copies a week. Having been raised in two European cultures—Germany and Greece—Maria offers a distinctly European approach to cooking and baking with whole grains. She combines Germany's centuries-old tradition of preparing whole grain foods with the appeal of Mediterranean cooking. Previously, Maria worked as a cooking instructor at Sur La Table in Washington, DC. She is a member of the IACP, Les Dames d'Escoffier, and Slow Food USA.
