Award-Winning Chef Nina Simonds Brings the Art of Asian Cooking to The CSCA

Nina SimondsEveryone's heard that chicken soup can cure a cold, but it's the healing properties of ginger, garlic, and curry that continue to captivate Chef Nina Simonds ever since she traveled to Taipei at age 19.

Since then, the James Beard Award-winner has become one of the leading authorities on Asian cuisine and culture, publishing 10 cookbooks, Including Asian Noodles and A Spoonful of Ginger, and one of the first-ever video blogs, Spices of Life, which features the talented, lively Simonds exploring meals from Beijing to New England.

Simonds comes to The CSCA to teach classes on the myriad colors, shapes, and flavors of life-giving Asian fare.

Students spend the morning of July 18 with Simonds as she leads a walking adventure in Chinatown, stopping at her favorite bakery, herbal store, and food market to learn ab out the basics of Chinese shopping and cooking. The tour will culminate in a 10-course Dim Sum banquet at her favorite Chinatown restaurant.

On August 19, Simonds will unwrap the secrets of Chinese Dumplings, including how to fold flavor into Pot Stickers, Fragrant Vegetarian Dumplings, Steamed Open Shaped Dumplings, and Flaky Curry Turnovers.

Chef Nina holds a Grande Dimplome in Classic French Cuisine from LaVarenne, Ecole de Cuisine in Paris. She's been teaching cooking classes in schools across the United States for 30 years and has been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Oprah Magazine, Bon Appetit, Self Magazine, among other newspapers and magazines.
