Alex Lewin Publishes Fermentation Cookbook
Lewin To Give Live Culture Demonstration at The CSCA on Thursday, September 20, 2012
[September 5, 2012] Chef and Author Alex Lewin will give a demonstration on Thursday, September 20th at The CSCA. The author of Real Food Fermentation: Preserving Whole Fresh Food with Live Cultures in Your Home Kitchen, Lewin will discuss working with live cultures and the foods one can preserve with them. He will make a few recipes from his book, such as sauerkraut and yogurt, while addressing techniques, equipment, and ingredients with the audience. Following the demo and tasting, Alex will answer questions and sign copies of Real Food Fermentation.
Chef Lewin is a software architect and engineer, fermenter, author, health coach, real food activist, trained chef, raw milk drinker, motorcycle and scooter rider, and urban bicyclist. He writes the popular blog, Feed Me Like You Mean It.
His career has spanned internet giants (Yahoo!), supercomputer companies, financial companies, consumer electronics manufacturers, and food software companies. He has studied math as an undergraduate at Harvard College, and he graduated from The CSCA in 2006. He is a member of the board for the Boston Public Market Association (BPMA).
A portion of the event fee will be donated to the BPMA. Bill Dowling, general manager and co-owner of The CSCA, is also a BPMA board member.
